How to use this guide
Acadia is the national park on this list that the National Park System page places in Maine alone. The anniversary table’s line for it is not a simple founding date: the note records earlier names. Read that note before you treat the year as the moment the park took its present shape.
The coastline and the island roads are why the official directions and conditions pages matter more than a centroid on a national map. This guide does not name a trail, a mileage, or a parking rule. If a road the park publishes, including any page we were able to open about the Park Loop, is closed or ticketed, the park’s notice is the one that counts.
